This reminds me of a scene on Facebook (the movie). In it an undergrad said that the site was so addictive and that she found herself checking it at least five times a day - and this was within two weeks that it was released on campus.

I thought someone should let you know that the last three paragraphs were repeated. I know you'll want to make the necessary adjustments.

You've made a very interesting analogy that gives a positive view of refunds. Thanks for sharing this valuable insight.

I know it's maddening to see, but on the bright side, your article is legendary. And if you look up copyright laws, you are entitled to compensation from every one of those sites. I think smashingmagazine website has a ton of web copyright info.

You are pretty amazing though, and it's a damn good article!

Some great food for thought. I'm personally enamored by unpredictability, but occasionally see that "surprise" copy backfiring in the wrong hands.

Great list.

No doubt- this is my #1 pet peeve when reading sales copy. The price is exact and everything else is vague. No sale.

Simple stuff but you make the point very well. It's always good to hear a real pro's take on these things.

Thanks for a good post.

I've thought about this issue. You illustrate it well here and give some good ideas of ways to fix ineffective sentences.

I think maybe we get taught to "be polite" by not coming out and saying "what it is" straight away - as if being blunt is somehow coarse.

Sometimes, as you've shown here, the sentence or thought can be boiled-down to a few short words - and other times the idea begs for specifics like the trucker's cash windfall.

Love your stuff Ray.
